The translation of One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gao Changrong and Huang Jinyan was an early translation in China.”

"Mr. Huang Jinyan is a professor of Spanish at Shanghai Foreign Studies University and graduated from the Spanish Language and Literature Department of the Shanghai Foreign Studies Institute in 1965. in 1982, the sixth issue of World Literature was the first to publish six chapters of One Hundred Years of Solitude, translated by Huang Jinyan, Shen Guozheng, and Chen Quan. in 1984, the Shanghai Translation Press published an edition of the three of them together. In a 2007 interview, Huang Jinyan noted that there was no version he translated alone, except that the Shanghai Translation is now generally referred to as the 'Huang Jinyan edition'."

Fan Ye believes that the key to his translation of One Hundred Years of Solitude is to find the tone of this work, and finding it is half the battle. 'Among the many protagonists of One Hundred Years of Solitude, the invisible narrator, is the real protagonist. That's a big part of the work's charm. The goal of my efforts is to capture such a tone, which can be presented inside my translation.'"
“范晔因翻译马尔克斯的《百年孤独》而广为人知，同时他也是一位作家、诗人。范晔认为，他翻译《百年孤独》的关键是寻找这部作品的调子，找到它就成功了一半，‘在《百年孤独》诸多的主人公中，无形的叙述者，才是真正的主人公。这也是作品很大的魅力所在。我努力的目标是希望捕捉到这样的调子，在我的中文里面能够呈现出来。’”
