"Yang Jiang's works are roughly divided into three parts: novels, essays and translations. Many people who know Yang Jiang say that, compared to her novels and essays, her greatest achievement in life actually lies in her translations, the most important of which is Don Quixote. Yang Jiang was already fluent in English and French, and began to teach herself Spanish at the age of 48. In an interview, Yang Jiang once said that Qian Zhongshu's best was English, second was French, third was German, then Italian, 'Spanish was learned from me. If he wanted to find any Spanish material, I would find the original language for him. Because Spanish is very close to Italian, he slowly understood it.'"

"Fu Donghua said, 'My aim is to be faithful to the interesting spirit of the whole book, not to a single branch or section.' Dong Yansheng, speaking of Fu's translation of Don Quixote, once wrote, 'The translation I encountered was Fu Donghua's translation from English, and I should say it was quite vivid, often making me laugh uncontrollably while reading.'"

"Dong Yansheng often laughed when he read Don Quixote in his middle school days. At that time, he could never have imagined in any way that he would have a lifelong relationship with this ranger knight. The wall portrait of Don Quixote sits on the wall of his living room, in a perpetual forward stance. Dong Yansheng's translation of Don Quixote has been reprinted in different guises over the years, emitting a quiet fragrance on the bookshelf. He may have hidden in his heart a Don Quixote that we cannot see or guess, a knight who does not grow up; his dictionary does not set up a "protective wall", and he has to say 12 points when he thinks of 10 points, and sometimes the more sarcastic he says, the more he feels happy, which inevitably makes people think that he is "a child who speaks without fear". "In fact, he is kind-hearted and full of fantasy."
