George R.R. Martin, referred to as George R.R. Martin and sometimes called G.R.R.M., was born on September 20, 1948, is an American fantasy novelist, also a horror fiction writer. The "Song of Ice and Fire" series is his representative work. It was adapted into the American drama "Game of Thrones" by the famous American TV station HBO, which premiered in April 2011. He was selected as one of the "100 people who influenced the world in 2011" by Time Magazine. In 2012, he won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Fantasy Awards.
