The Italian writer Carlo Sgorlon is a unique one indeed.
可以说，斯戈隆先生是二战后意大利文坛的一个独特的、意味深长的现象。
He was born on July 26th, in a small village belong to Friuli-Venezia Giulia,Kingdom of Italy. His parents were school teachers and were, as a result, pretty busy. He was raised by his grandparents who had a steadfast love for literature. His grandfather, a retired schoolteacher, always read La Divina Comedia by Dante to little Carlo. He also encouraged his grandson to read widely. Therefore, the boy had the dream of becoming a writer.
1930年7月26日，斯戈隆先生出生在意大利东北部威尼斯-弗留利大区的一个乡村里。他的父母是小学教师，工作繁忙，祖父母将其抚养长大。祖父经常给他朗读但丁的《神曲》，并且鼓励童年的斯戈隆阅读大量的文学作品。斯戈隆先生对文学的一腔热爱就此萌芽。
Friuli-Venezia Giulia has many minorities. It is also a region heavily loaded with the German culture. Carlo was very interested in that and he came to Munich for further education after college graduation. He become a teacher in his hometown after coming back, doing his writings in his spare time.
因为弗留利大区属于少数民族聚居区，德意志文化对此亦有熏染，斯戈隆先生也对德国文学情有独钟。18岁时，他入读比萨高等师范学校，毕业后即赴德国慕尼黑留学。回到弗留利地区后，他一面在学校任教，一面开始了写作。
Carlo’s writings shows a strong love to the harmony of nature, as well as the love for kindness and sincerity. That’s his love for his hometown. His hometown has been upgraded to a pure land and serves as an inspiration for the writer, who is also addressed as “the singer for countrymen”. Yes, Carlo sings. He sings with is pen, with his words. He also sings in La Conchiglia di Anataj.

La Conchiglia di Anataj depicts a number of Italian farmers who went to Siberia to build the railroads. They were poor but intelligent, very bold and brave. There personalities shines through the whole book. Carlo views his countrymen like this.
阿纳泰的贝壳这本书，展现的是一群赴西伯利亚修建铁路的勤劳农民的生活。斯戈隆笔下的农民，贫寒、辛劳，但充满智慧和理性，不卑不亢，不屈服于蛮横无理的主人。博爱、诚实的品格，在字里行间闪耀着一种不可磨灭的光辉。这就是弗留利乡村农民的精神世界，也是人性的真善美。
However, Carlo does not like the out-of-date part of country culture. He shows no interest towards commercialization either. He wants his hometown to remain peaceful and tranquil, so he makes his endeavor with his pen.
当然，斯戈隆先生并不推崇乡村文明中落伍的东西和狭隘的地域色彩。他毫不掩饰地对这些需要摈弃的元素加以批评，同时倾心于在商业大潮中消亡的古朴与纯真，试图用文字去留住这些可贵的品质。
In La Conchiglia di Anataj, in the vast plain of Siberia, in the course of dangerous toil, the Italian farmers forged their bond with their Russian counterparts. It was true friendship indeed.
在《阿纳泰的贝壳》中，在茫茫无垠的雪原，在人烟罕见的冻土带，在艰苦、危险的劳动中，共同的命运与共同农民的根，把弗留利移民和俄罗斯人联系在了一起。他们结下了不寻常的情谊。
